Good Evening Cedar Crest Families- We are excited to have students back to school tomorrow! If you plan to drop your child off or pick your child up from school please read and review the below information. While there is a lot of information it is all very important so please be sure to read it all. Drop off begins at 8:40, please do not drop students off before this time as there is no supervision. Here is a video to explain how drop off in our moving loop works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m43O9m8RQVU A few important notes about the moving loop: 1. All students must exit the vehicle on the right side (sidewalk side), adults must stay in the car (this loop continually moves) 2. Please have your child ready to exit as soon as you pull into the loop (say your goodbyes, have backpacks ready, etc. before entering the loop) 3. Please pull as far forward as possible before having your child exit the car. As soon as you are pulled as far forward as possible into the blue or purple zone, please have your child exit the car. Students should not exit until you are in the purple or blue zone. 4. If your child is unable to exit the car by him/herself please park in the lot and use this method for drop off. Parking is not allowed in the moving loop. 5. When exiting the parking lot, use the left lane for left hand turns and the right lane for right hand turns. Never pass other vehicles in the loop. Here is a video to show how to use our moving loop for pickup at the end of the school day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leTeHumDSuY A few important notes about the moving loop for pickup: 1. Be sure your pickup tag is hanging from your rearview mirror before entering the loop 2. Students must enter the car on the right side, adults must stay in the car (this loop continually moves) 3. Please pull as far forward as possible into your child's color zone before stopping to pick him/her up 4. If your child is not at the curb waiting for you, please continue to pull through the loop and rejoin the moving line (you can go through the parking lot instead of having to reenter the road way) 5. Once your child has entered the car and the door is closed please immediately proceed through the loop to keep the traffic moving 6. When exiting the parking lot, use the left lane for left hand turns and the right lane for right hand turns. Never pass other vehicles in the loop. Here is a video that explains the procedure if you are dropping your child off or picking your child up on the sidewalk (not using the loop): https://youtu.be/AC8IjjWPqQQ A few important notes about dropping your child off on the sidewalk: 1. Please drop your child off to the adult on the sidewalk, the adult will cross your child when it is safe to do so. We give preference to moving traffic first. For security purposes, we ask that all adults stay on the parking lot side of the loop during pickup and drop off. This allows us to monitor who is interacting with students and who is/is not entering our open doors at this time. 2. When picking your child up, please be patient as we learn what adults belong to which children. We will only cross children when we see their adults on the sidewalk. We will quickly learn faces but the first week or so may move slower than normal due to this. 3. We give preference to moving vehicles in our loop first. For safety reasons, please do not call your child's name to try to hurry them across. We do not want children running into our moving loop. Below is a map of the pattern traffic should follow. Please follow this to avoid blocking neighboring driveways and having traffic backup into M-57 We have a lot of parents signed up to pick their child up on the sidewalk. I anticipate the parking lot being very congested and this process taking a bit at first. If at any time you would like to use the moving loop instead of sidewalk pick up, please just call the office and we will get you all set up to use the moving loop. Thank you for helping us ensure safety and efficiency by following the above guidelines.
