In light of the thunderstorm, we will be flexible for our dismissal plans. Please read these changes carefully:
*Bus students will be staged in the gym and dismissed when weather permits.
*Students who walk home may need to make other arrangements.
*Student who are picked up by a parent will be released but only when a parent arrives so they aren't waiting outside.
Note: Please feel free to wait until the weather clears a bit if it's really bad. Everyone will be safe inside!

Greetings Baldwin Heights School Family!
The district would very much like your input about the school climate at Baldwin Heights. This link is to a survey that will help to provide our school with an overall understanding of how our BH families perceive school climate along four dimensions: school connectedness, school safety, school orderliness, and peer and adult relations. There is also a short section about reading.
The survey is 24 questions where you simply rank how much you agree or disagree with statements about our school climate. This data will be very important as we have dialogue at the school and district level about how to improve the school climate at Baldwin Heights. The deadline is FRIDAY, MAY 22. Thank you so much for your help!

Principal of Baldwin Heights Elementary
I have been trying to find the right words this past week and all I can say is that I am getting sentimental as I celebrate the end of another amazing year. I want to thank the Daily News and everyone who voted for the Reader’s Choice Awards. Having school spirit is something that many incredible staff in Greenville share with me and there are so many deserving people for that recognition.
I also want to recognize all of the principals in Greenville who work diligently each and every day for the betterment of all students in GPS. They all deserve Best Principal as we all work collaboratively as a team: Jennifer Maher at Walnut Hills, Keisha Peters At Cedar Crest, Hans Daum at Lincoln Heights, MaryBeth Taylor, Todd Boyer, and Katy Beebe at GMS, Mark Haist, Kristen Ritter, and Samantha Hondorp at GHS. Every principal in our entire district puts in a tremendous amount of time for their buildings and school families and I couldn’t be more proud to work alongside such great leaders.
Receiving recognition like this as the principal of Baldwin Heights is honestly difficult to put into words. If I’m being truthful, a “Best Principal” award could never belong to just one person. To truly recognize what makes this possible, we would need to honor the hundreds of people who pour their time, energy, and hearts into this school community every single day. I would not be the leader I am without the entire Baldwin Heights family standing beside me. Our staff…both in this building and across the district…work tirelessly to make a meaningful difference for kids. Our community continually shows incredible support, and our parents take immense pride in Baldwin Heights. Time after time, they have shown they are willing to do whatever it takes to help our students succeed.
As I illustrated last year, being voted Best Principal and Best Boss really means that I have the BEST STAFF, BEST PARENTS, BEST COMMUNITY, BEST STUDENTS….and BEST FAMILY. If it weren’t for my wife, my kids, my grandkids, my friends, and the influence of my own parents…I wouldn’t be the person or leader I am today.
I am honored to be the principal of Baldwin Heights Elementary School as this school is a very special place. These awards don’t come without the support of an entire community. I have no other words other than to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Mike Walsh
