Limited Tax Pledge Notice Notice - October 10, 2022 at 7:00pm

Please take notice that there will be a meeting of the Board of Education of Greenville Public Schools, Montcalm , Kent and Ionia Counties, Michigan.

At said meeting, the Board of Education will consider for approval its proposed State Aid Note (General Obligation - Limited Tax). The proposed State Aid Note (General Obligation - Limited Tax), if issued, will contain the limited tax full faith and credit pledge of Greenville Public Schools, Montcalm, Kent and Ionia Counties, Michigan.

Regular Board of Education Meetings:

Regular Meetings of the Board of Education are generally held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the Central Services Facility (1414 Chase Street) Community Room.

Special Board of Education Meeting Notices:

There will be a Special Board Meeting on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 5:45pm at the Central Services Facility (1414 Chase Street, Greenville) for the purpose of student discipline hearings and any other business necessary.

Board Vacancy Update:

The Greenville Board of Education received 12 letters of interest for a Trustee vacancy on the Board following the resignation of Dr. Jodi Petersen (effective August 22, 2022). 

The individuals who submitted letters of interest were Kristina Brott, Bart Brown, Joshua Franklin, Susan Hoppough, Michael Huff, Helen Kennedy, Leslie Larsen-Rankine, Richelle Lentz, Jeffrey Lodholtz, Michael O’Brien, Greta Skogseth, and Jim VanderLaan. 

During a special board meeting on Tuesday (9/6), the Board decided to interview six (6) individuals who submitted a letter of interest, which included K. Brott, L. Larsen-Rankine, R. Lentz, G. Skogseth, J. VanderLaan, and M. Huff.

Following the interviews that took place last night, the Board voted to appoint Michael Huff to fill the Board Trustee vacancy.

Michael is excited to join the Board and looks forward to serving the community, staff, and students of Greenville.

Meeting Process:

All meetings are open to the public except, in accordance with state statutes, the board meets in closed session to discuss matters of personnel, negotiations, or the purchase of land.

In the agenda, a time is set aside for citizen comments. Generally, questions of fact can be answered at the meeting at which they are raised. Other questions may be referred to the administration for investigation and study, and a reply given by mail or phone at the earliest possible date.

Citizens are encouraged to take concerns directly to the staff person closest to the problem to allow for a timely response.
