School Nurse Services

Health News

Greenville Public Schools strives to promote and maintain a healthy environment for all our students, staff, parents and community members who visit our buildings.

Partnership with Spectrum Health Healthier Communities

The school district in partnership with Spectrum Health Healthier Communities, employs a full time Registered Nurse, Patti Gray RN BSN. Mrs. Gray provides health services for all of our district buildings.  Due to the logistics of the job, Mrs. Gray has and continues to train staff in CPR/AED use, First Aid and Medication Certification.

To assist our staff in providing safe emergency and routine health care to our students, we need parent feedback and communication.

  • Allergic/Anaphylaxis Reactions to food, insects, latex, etc.
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy/Seizures
  • Cardiac/Heart condition

Medication Administration Permission Form

Greenville Public Schools is a drug free school zone. In compliance with this and our school policy, ANY STUDENT, requiring Prescription or Over-The-Counter medication requires a Medication Permission slip signed by both the parent and physician.  This must occur if your child will be self-medicating such as many High school students do (ie. Tylenol, ibuprofen etc.) or if the staff at your child's school dispenses the medication to your child. This form must be received at school before any medication can be dispensed or for your child to bring to school to self medicate.

This form can be obtained at the school office or by calling Patti Gray RN at 225-7056

"Do I send him/her today or not"?

It can be difficult to know when to keep your child home from school due to illness. The control of communicable diseases in our schools is always of concern.  Simple"Rules of Thumb" of when to keep a child home are if any of the following are exhibited:

  • fever
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • uncontrolled cough and runny nose
  • rash without a diagnosis by a health care provider

Mid-Michigan District Health Department has a wonderful brochure entitled "Know When to Keep Your Child Home". You can obtain one of these brochures by calling Patti Gray RN at 225-7056.
